There's a difference between having kids who play sports, and buying what everyone else has because you're a dumb twit who can't make an intelligent buying decision. Well, the Yukons have nothing to do with sports and I'm not sure what their argument for buying them was. I guess they just wanted them. Bingo! They must be one of the crowd that says "We have a god-given right to own anything we want, no matter what effect its use has on society at large". You may be giving too much credit where it's not due at all. I don't think the idea of anything other than "Ooh, cool car, I want one." was involved. Hey....I'd love a string trimmer with a tilting head to do driveway edging. But, there are already too damned many noisy little motors around my neighborhood, most of them serving no purpose at all. A healthy 30 year old couple using a leaf blower for 3 hours to clean up under a *MINIATURE* Japanese red maple that's barely larger than the plastic bag they're putting its leaves in. Give me a friggin' break. Bend over and pick up the leaves. Pass the ammo! Pushing manual mower would go a long way to help america's fitness failure. It wouldn't hurt to rake a few leaves either. |

My son and I can fill about 20 leaf bags per hour, using a rake, and a plastic trash can with the bottom punctured so the bag doesn't get stuck from the vacuum inside. It's a real stitch to watch the neighbors with their leaf blowers, chasing 3 leaves all day. We don't mind, though. They're all going deaf, which means we can practice our guitars with impunity. :-) |

What kind? -Raf (I play Martin and Kinscherff) Me: Peavey Cirrus bass. The kid (as he's officially known): Guild SG copy. Cheap, until he passes year #2 and proves he's going to remain interested. Then, he and I have a discussion of the Big Equation: You mow the lawn on MY schedule, and maybe I help with Better Guitar Money. |
