Default Pontoon Gas Tank Replacement

Yes, you can use plastic tanks. I assume your boat does not have a built in
tank but rather "portable" metal 6 gallon tanks. If the tanks set outside
in the sun all the time - the plastic ones will not hold up as many years
due to
UV aging. Over time they will fade, warp, and possibly crack.

True enough, but, steel gas tanks can and will rust. I bought a boat
that had a portable, flat 11 gal. tank, put gas in it, and it leaked
like a sieve!! Plus, like you stated, the plastic ones are cheap. One
thing I noticed with the plastic ones are that if the vent is closed,
and the sun hits it, because of thermal expansion, they'll look like a
balloon!
