Boat Terminology Under Attack

My GF is doing a Windjammer cruise with one of her lady friends. They
arrived at the boat yesterday, late afternoon, to load luggage, get settled.
Went into town for dinner and apparently a few cocktails. She called later,
with her friend at her side, both laughing. She finally calmed down enough
to describe the boat. She said they commented to the captain that it was hot
in their cabin. They'd both brought sleeping bags because they might go
camping afterwards. So, in her words, "He said it was OK to sleep on the
foreaft deck". More laughter.

Everyone write that one down. Foreaft deck. Stay tuned. I'm sure there'll be
more. :-) They went booze shopping in town.

I've always been half-tempted with those Windjammer cruises... can you
report back with a review when she's back on land?

There has to be a simple explanation.
Your girlfriend is sailing on an innovative new craft, a quadmaran, and
there are actually four aft decks... :-)

That may be it! More news at it breaks. They're both big fans of Ben &
Jerry's ice cream (what woman isn't?). I expect to hear that on the boat,
the served a flavor called Anchor Rode (rocky road?). Oh never mind.....

They have Windjammer cruises out of Rochester NY??
My buddy in the British Virgin Islands worked on the boats (captain) for
a few years down south. I missed a chance to sail on the supply ship
that left Florida and did a month long stint down to Aruba & back
stopping at each island that had Windjammer boats.

Have you not heard of a foreaft deck? You must be a landlubber. The
foreaft deck is that portion of the aft deck which is most forward. Geeeez
Doug, get with it.

but they were debating the imagery.

No, the foreaft deck is that portion of the foredeck that is aft of the fore
of the foredeck.

Bryan,

Thanks. I've got it now. What was I thinking? Back to the Chapman's with
me.
