"According to the military, at 3 a.m. local time Wednesday, coalition forces
conducted an operation against a suspected foreign fighter safe house in the
open desert. The house was 25 kilometers from the Syrian border, 85
kilometers southwest of Husaybah (search), military officials said.
Coalition forces came under hostile fire and called for support from the
air. After the strike, coalition forces recovered numerous weapons, foreign
passports, a SATCOM radio and two million Iraqi and Syrian dinars, military
officials said.

The attack killed about 40 people, officials said.

That official reiterated that the objective was a suspected hideout, and had
no information about a wedding party. "

Relax 'asskisser, I will find another source to confirm the story.

Officials say American aircraft kill more than 40 at wedding party
By Associated Press
Wednesday, May 19, 2004

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A U.S. helicopter fired on a wedding party early
Wednesday in western Iraq, killing more than 40 people, Iraqi officials
said. The U.S. military said it could not confirm the report and was
investigating.
Lt. Col Ziyad al-Jbouri, deputy police chief of the city of
Ramadi, said between 42 and 45 people died in the attack, which took
place about 2:45 a.m. in a remote desert area near the border with Syria
and Jordan. He said those killed included 15 children and 10 women.
Dr. Salah al-Ani, who works at a hospital in Ramadi, put the death
toll at 45.
Associated Press Television News obtained videotape showing a
truck containing bodies of those allegedly killed.

"According to the military, at 3 a.m. local time Wednesday, coalition

Earlier in the day, a US General was inerviewed and he made the statement about
celebratory rifle fire.

Middle of he day, story changed to a couple of hundred US troops descended on
the house immediately after the helicopter fired into the crowd and found
"foreign pasports, money, and other suspicous documents"

End of the day, "the military launched a large, coordinated attack against a
known safe house."

Hard to get a handle on this one.

I heard the military spokesman interviewed on the radio today, after the final
version of events was put forward. He speculated that
the "cunning enemy" had deliberately murdered all the women and children
included in the body count to make the US look bad.

No mater how it slices, things are not improving rapidly in Iraq. :-(

Jim--, calm down, take a deep breath. You seem to be losing it. Is it
because of the poor job being done in Iraq? You are replying to me,
and I didn't interject one single word to this thread......I'm
beginning to feel sorry for you, I didn't realize that you may have
mental issues.

Probably! You know how it is, they have to tell the U.S. coalition
