Default Hypalon - How to prep for a Davit - Help Needed

I am attempting to install my Weaver Davits on a Small Hypalon Boat.
I had to remove a logo (made of Hypalon), and now I am attempting to
figure out how to clean or prep the surface for the Davit where the
logo was.

I've read various suggestions.

I have tried Acetone, did nothing.

Some suggest to sand through it using a sander, even sanding to the
point you can almost notice the brown material below.

Others say to just clean it well with acetone, get rid of any high
spots that can trap air and proceed.

Some have suggested using Toluene or MEK. Don't know about these
solvents and if this is good or safe for the boat or it will be
effective.

Any input would be most appreciated.
