Boat should have a serial number on the transom somewhere. The last two
numbers are the year. The motor has a serial number on the transom bracket somewhere. Post that number here and we can tell you the year. -- Tony my boats and cars at http://t.thomas.home.mchsi.com - "Julien Mills" wrote in message ... Hi, I'm considering buying a 12' aluminum boat with a 7.5 horse mercury, probably about 10 - 15 years old. The seller doesn't know the exact age of the engine (or boat). Is there any way to tell, by examining the engine? Is it printed on a plate somewhere? Or, if it runs well, maybe it doesn't really matter exactly how old it is. Still, it would be nice to know. is it always the last two numbers that are the year? Don't some builders
