Venturing out this weekend?
I'm not.
This is one weekend that I don't venture out anywhere with a boat unless it's in my own pond or some of the small ponds around the general area. How about y'all? |

How about y'all? We always went out on the 4th weekend, just keeping an extra sharp lookout for drunks and those not having a clue as to what they were doing. |

How about y'all? Nope, Lake Lanier is insane the 4th. Lake Lanier Islands has a huge fireworks display, and all of the people that have more money for boats than they have sense will be out. They have big boats, and you'd think that they knew how to handle them, huh? NOT! |

I'm not. We are... or at least, planning to... This is one weekend that I don't venture out anywhere with a boat unless it's in my own pond or some of the small ponds around the general area. How about y'all? Well, I don't blame you. If I had to venture out into the huge crowd of violently drunk butt-heads that are sure to congregate around the major metro areas, I'd stay home and watch fireworks on TV. However, around here the crowds are smaller and the percentage of belligerent ignoramii is lower. My plan is to be wary. However we hope have a few friends go out Sunday evening with us, anchor & watch the fire works show, then head for the barn. Frankly I'd prefer to go by ourselves & anchor out all night, but apparently that's not in the cards. Fair Skies Doug King |
How about y'all? Some. We have a bunch of friends and family gathering at the bay but Saturday is a community fund raiser Jamboree so we'll spend most of the day participating in that. Sunday we're going to bar-b-q so may go fishing a little then shoot fireworks on the beach after dark. Probably fish a little Monday before everyone goes home but I plan to take a few days off and fish after the crowds leave - hopefully offshore if weather permits. Fortunately, there is enough room on the bay that it doesn't get too crowded even when there are a bunch of boats around. |

I still cannot figure out why anyone would want a "Big" boat on that lake, unless it is being used as a weekend condo. Hell, there are huge personal use boats on Lanier. It does have 900 or so odd miles of shorline. There's also live aboard 90 foot houseboats, etc. It's a playground for Atlanta's wealthy. It's very pretty, but overused in the summer. I'm careful in my bass boat in summer, it gets kinda scary out in deep water striper fishing with those idiots in there trawlers and houseboats, not knowing a damned thing about rules of the road. I stay mostly in the coves in summer. Good thing about it, being quite hilly there are lots of coves to get into that are big enough to tube, fish and ski in. |

You have demonstrated time and time again to this NG the extent to which you have stalked me and my wife and the threats you made to us were real. Continue with your obsession with me. I was giving you a chance to finally behave....you can't so back into the bozo bin you go. Ta-ta. |

Since it's raining up here, I'll stay put. Besides. it's more fun to be sanding drywall crackfiller over your head and breathing in the fine particles. Tomorrow we work on the 'return, stoop & casing' of the five new windows we installed recently. |

I start out wearing my respirator mask and my face shield..but soon tire of that and take my chances. |

~~ snippage ~~ I hear you about the software crap. That's why I stayed on the hardware side of things - that was I could bitch and complain at the software guys. :) On the bright side, my daughter has taken on another entrepreneurial spirit. She started a company called Mer-Maids. She is cleaning boats in her spare time. Tomorrow she has a job cleaning a 30' Searay. She gets paid well. Damn well because she is pretty and wears a bikini while she works. Her tips are big!!! Besides the fact that she gets about $300 for 4 hours of work. Awright!!!! That's a great idea and I'll bet she does get some decent money for that kind of work. Clever name. Damn, I wish I were born handsome instead of stupid. I know - it's a burd....oh, wait - you were talking about yourself. Sorry. :) |

How about y'all? We went out today from about 1 pm till 9 pm. Observations: 1. A guy lights up a cigarette while gassing up next to us at the gas docks. We yell at him and he reluctantly, with an attitude, puts it out by throwing it the cigarette in the water. 2. 2 close calls with other boats failing to yield...we finally slow in each case and let the assholes pass in front of us (they were coming at us from our port side). 3. We were passed at a fairly good rate of speed (leaving a nice wake) in a 2 boat wide river channel and a no wake zone. Considering that we spent most of the time anchored at 2 different swimming spots (maybe spending 2 hours cruising) this was a high number of incidents. The assholes are out in full force. |
