Lake Lanier Islands has a huge fireworks display, and all of the people that have more money for boats than they have sense will be out. They have big boats, and you'd think that they knew how to handle them, huh? NOT! I still cannot figure out why anyone would want a "Big" boat on that lake, unless it is being used as a weekend condo. Hell, there are huge personal use boats on Lanier. It does have 900 or so odd miles of shorline. There's also live aboard 90 foot houseboats, etc. It's a playground for Atlanta's wealthy. It's very pretty, but overused in the summer. I'm careful in my bass boat in summer, it gets kinda scary out in deep water striper fishing with those idiots in there trawlers and houseboats, not knowing a damned thing about rules of the road. I stay mostly in the coves in summer. Good thing about it, being quite hilly there are lots of coves to get into that are big enough to tube, fish and ski in. |
