... "WASHINGTON (July 30) - President Bush took personal responsibility for the first time Wednesday for using discredited intelligence in his State of the Union address, (etc)" Well, knock my butt down with a feather. Didn't think he had it in him. First "presidential" thing he's done in all this time. Doesn't excuse the original misdeed or the six months spent covering it up, but he fessed up a lot faster than either Clinton and Nixon did in similar circumstances. Even if he was ordered to do this, it took some leadership and courage to follow through. I'm pleasantly surprised.............(although my overall opinion remains substantially unchanged) Too much applause wouldn't be appropriate, so George, I give you one clap. (Not be confused with *the* clap, or course). :-) A Karl Rove move no doubt. One wonders why these guys don't just step up to the plate and say "the buck stops here." Nixon's another story since what he did was instruct his people to commit a crime. Ooooo, that gets one to thinking... |
