Decals

Hi all. I've followed this group for a couple years but never had a reason
to post before. I have a simple problem, the decals on my boat (Sea Ray)
are starting to come off. How do you get them stuck back down?

Thanks.

Seedy.

I don't think there is any way to re-stick them. I'd look at removing
them... 3M makes a wheel specifically for the task and..... then,
replace them..... (or not) depending on the budget and available
energy....

I would use two faced glue. I know Gene does.

Decals or hard plastic placards?

If they are decals, then you can get new ones from Sea Ray. Use a
heat gun, remove the old ones and replace them - there is no way to
properly reglue the decal.

If it's a placard type deal, then epoxy will do you fine.

Next time buy a boat without fancy decals. They have no place on a real
boat, anyway.

Yeah - a man's boat ain't got no pansy nancy boy candy ass decals
anyway.

Um...

Wait a minute...

Never mind.

Sort of like the lack of decals on the side of your modest 25 foot (you
claim it to be a 32 footer) fishing boat Krause?

"Yo Whore"?

How absolutely hysterical.

Thanks for the help. I'm curious though, if you can take them off with a
heat gun can't you put them back on with one?

The heat will make the glue release. It won't make the glue adhere again.
Most just take them off and leave them off. If you want you can order new
ones from SeaRay and leave them in a safe place until you get ready to sell
the boat. Then install to make the boat look like it has been took care of.

The heat "releases" the decal "glue." The glue will not reset with
application of heat.

Do you really need the decals on your boat? I've never seen a set of
decals on a boat that improved its looks.

Well, if your decals read "I am an @sshole" it would improve the looks and
be honest at the same time.

I've heard of using clear nail polish. I tried it the other day, but the
decal I was trying to reseal was too stiff and kept popping up; I'm going to
try again, using duct tape to hold it down until the polish dries. (I had
duct tape in the boat, but was ready to leave when I tried this, and was too
lazy to undo the cover and climb back into the boat again - it was on a
trailer in a lot.)
