Default Aluminum Rub Rail refinish?

Hello-

Anyone had any luck taking "loving use" marks (aka: what happens when
you rub against something harder than aluminum!!) out of an anodized
aluminum rub rail? It's from a 1990 SeaRay 310. It has gouges on it
that I'd like to make look *better*. Filing or sanding would obviously
work some, but the anodizing will be removed, too. Can it be recoated
with something? Can the anodizing be touched up in any way?

TIA

Bud
