It's one thing to torture prisoners to get info that may save lives...but in
the pictures, the soldiers seemed to enjoy what they are doing. Just goes
to show our societies aren't that much farther ahead of some 'backward'

Cool. With the perpetrators on videotape, there should be more than enough
evidence to give them all dishonorable discharges.

I had a better idea. Each perp gets a prize: 2 hours in a locked room with
Mike Tyson, who's been dosed with PCP. Mike gets gloves & a boxing mask if
he wants. The perps get prison clothes. The room should probably have a
floor drain for easy cleanup.

Let me get this straight...
Our troops inflicted cruel and sadistic punishment on insurgents who had
inflicted cruel and sadistic punishment on other troops of ours, and you
want to inflict further cruel and sadistic punishment on those troops of
ours? Whose side are you on anyhow?

Now let me clue you in...

terrorists...those are the "good" guys.

1) SOME of our troops inflicted the aforementioned punishment on PEOPLE,
only SOME of whom were "insurgents", as you call them. Therefore, stop
making blanket statements about "good guys" and "bad guys". It only makes
you sound sillier.

2) Some of the "insurgents" have found to be harmless and have been
released. This means that the soldiers who inflicted the punishment are
criminals, based on the logic behind the laws in most civilized countries,
ours in particular. If one of your kids is arrested along with a friend
who's got a little too much pot in her pocket, and your kid is beaten by a
cop before being released, you will deal with that cop in the most severe
way you feel you can get away with, up to an including killing him. If not,
you're not much of a father.

3) A terrorist is someone who flies a plane into a building or blows up a
train. A person who shoots at an invading army is no different from you and
I in the exact same situation. The fact that he doesn't accept our reason
for being there is 100% immaterial. It's also 100% immaterial to him that
you think we have a good reason for being there. If there were foreign
soldiers wandering around Boca and you had a rifle, you'd be shooting at
them too.

4) Because you are a little light on your knowledge of history, you haven't
yet accepted the FACT that nobody can impose a political system on another
country successfully. It does not work. Never has, never will.

So when was the tribunal? From the third Geneva Convention:

Should any doubt arise as to whether persons, having committed a
belligerent act and having fallen into the hands of the enemy, belong to
any of the categories enumerated in Article 4, such persons shall enjoy
the protection of the present Convention until such time as their status

Most likely after the morons in the NG whined about the President being
"selected, not elected". Sort of like Kerry whining about the Republicans
talking about his military record when he is the one who keeps bringing it
up and an issue.

John, you're beginning to sound like some of the simpletons who, as late

as
last summer, had to remind everyone in this NG that Gore had lost the
election. Are you young enough to know what a broken record sounds like?

Doug, read any of the threads in rec.boats, and you will see that 95% of
them are just broken records.

Take a look at the thread concerning dogs crapping in your lawn, and you
will see that in that one thread, you repeated yourself more times than I
have posted in rec.boats.

Harry is a simpleton, who thrives on conflict, I am just pointing out that
those who live in glass houses, should not throw stones.

The "doctor" issue is in no way related to the contents of an article lifted
from the Washington Post. You know that.

You shouldn't insult simpletons by elevating harry to that level :-)

Makes me kind of miss Skipper.

What do you figure happened to Skipper? Anybody check the obits from his
Kansas hometown paper? I remember Harry promising to post pics of the
Lobster boat as soon as he read Skipper's obit.

Makes me kind of miss Skipper. BORG that he was, at least on occasion he
could put a sentence or two together, or posted something really funny.
Most of the right-wing dimwits who post here these days apparently are
about as familiar with standard English as I am with microbiology.

Yes...the 'Skippy' was entertaining , if nothing else.

LOL, yeah right. Have you noticed how many posts he makes about fishing in
his Parker. The Lobster Boat has disappeared along with his wife's
diplomas. Harry likes to make fun of you being a dentist because he was
never able to succeed in life, and is not a old man having to fabricate
stories to try to make himself look like he is a success.

I checked the obits for a while...both in Wichita, in his home town and
in the KC Star...but came up with nothing. His email was still working a
few months ago.

He was from time to time, and when he tried, he could put together a few
sentences. That certainly differentiates him from his "replacements."

Whew. Good thing. Hate for you to have to post that lobster boat pic. ;-)
