Employers added 288,000 people to their payrolls in April, a
stronger-than-expected total that follows big gains in March, the latest evidence that months of economic recovery without job growth finally have ended. "The longest jobless recovery during the post-war period is over,'' said Sung Won Sohn, chief economist for Wells Fargo & Co. "Businesses have regained confidence in the sustainability of this economic expansion and have started to hire people in earnest.'' |
