om... No. I am talking about the fact that you mentioned that without regional cuisine and music this country would be boring. That's not true. But it is constantly put forth by the common rags that *diversity* is a requirement, that *we* are all better for it. Bull****. Where did you ancestors come here from? All of my family, from the 1800's forward, have been born and raised in the US. That's not what he asked. This one's gonna be slippery. Get the gaff ready. :-) |

Practicing that witchcraft, were they?
Historical interruption to Kerry debate: Everybody put to death in Topsfield and Essex County was innocent. Without exception. Many went to their deaths defiantly proclaiming their devout Christian faith. Others were terrorized into false confessions. (There are some serious differences between observing old rituals, practicing natural healing, revering natural order, and being in league with Satan). My ggggg....grandfather, Zaccheus, was one of the original stakeholders of Topsfield. Mary Estey, Rebecca Nurse, and Sarah Cloyce (the Towne sisters) are all great aunts. If you wanted to see the devil at work in 1692, you didn't have to look any farther than Inquisitor Hawthorne and his gang of religious zealot thugs. Maleus Malificarum indeed. What a crock. Hell of a tragic way to settle some festering community disputes as well as squabbles over church doctrine and real estate boundaries. |

I beg your pardon Joe. Being a full blood Cherokee, I take pride in the fact
that my people are "Native" to this land. After all, there is no definitive proof that my people ever came from any other location on this or any other planet. "Joe" wrote in message ... "Native Americans" are not native. They've just been here longer. |

In the mid 1600's. Avoided that burning stench. Bill |

I'd guess you are right. I'm not aware of anyone having discovered Cherokee
luggage. -Doug (who spent too much time with a Far Side book last night) wrote in message ink.net... I beg your pardon Joe. You can choose to believe it, or not. |

I did encounter a few pasty-faced, no-necked banjo players...must have been your relatives, eh? |
