Default sea lion gets aggressive in the Columbia River

Guide Nearly Loses Life in Bonneville Pinneped Interaction!
Yes! You read the headlines right! Pro guide Lee Darby went to net a spring
chinook on 4/6 and nearly got dragged into the water doing it! Lee had his
fingers caught in the mesh of the net when he was landing the fish when a large
sea-lion got a hold of the fish through the net and began to drag him into the
water. Luckily, his customers grabbed a hold of him while untangling his hand.
The sea-lion took the net underwater and tore the net apart and the springer
with it. The net was totally destroyed but Lee escaped with only psychological
damage and no net. I must emphasize safety when exercising the new regulation
of not removing any wild salmon from the water before release!
