Rule #1. After being caught trying to defend a ridiculous
statement/opinion, but unable to do so any longer, start attacking the
other
side to deflect the criticism.

That must indeed be the first rule. My opinion that the bad joke and
its extension to Jesse Jackson were racist certainly evoked a lot of
criticism, as well as a specialized attack thread from John H in
response.

It looks like we agree on this one, JimH.
