No Chuck, you called *me* names and I *didn't* comment on the Jackson

Unfortunately Chuck, that pronunciation *is* typical for blacks in this area. I live in SC, and while all blacks don't speak that way, a large number do. And most of these aren't uneducated people... I can think of several from my graduating class in high school that required concentration to be able to understand. It goes on to this day. It's a *choice* made by them to speak in that manner. It severely limits their acceptance by mainstream society, and the opportunities available to them. You, the ACLU, and the NAACP do them no favors by coddling and accepting their behavior, and telling Bill Cosby to shut up when he points it out. You... the PC crowd, *are* part of the problem. Like any American city, their are parts of Columbia, SC that are pockets of drug and crime activity. The Columbia Police Dept.started a "Clean Sweep" program a couple of weeks ago to try to stem the drug activity in the downtown area. The ACLU and NAACP were quick to swoop in and proclaim that blacks were being targeted by the police. They called news conferences and condemned the activities. To the local news show's credit, when they covered this, they showed one final clip at the end. It was several black women who were saying that they *welcomed* the clean sweep program in their neighborhoods! They were tired of the drugs and crime, and wanted to reclaim their neighborhood. The organizations get so caught up in pushing their agendas that they forget to listen to their constituents. Pretty much like the PC crowd... squashing any recognition of reality, just pushing their blind agendas. ---------------------- Reply when you work up a good spin... It didn't initially occur to me he could have been refering to the Jesse Jackson reference in what most would consider the Mike Tyson thread. |

Gould,
Have you ever seem any comedian who has not poked fun at other people or situations? You are one pompous asshole. ****** Well that certainly makes sense. Let's allow comedians to determine what constitutes acceptable behavior. |
I would rather enjoy comedy and laugh, than be so politically correct you
find offense in everything that is said. Comedians have added more value to people than anything a failed used car salesman or failed used boat salesman ever has. Lighten up and enjoy life, blacks have enjoyed making fun of ebonics as much as anyone. Blacks have enjoy making fun of "white accents", only a loser wouild take offense at a black making fun of a redneck accent or uptight white behavior. My guess is you would be offended wrote in message oups.com... Gould, Have you ever seem any comedian who has not poked fun at other people or situations? you find offense in everything that is said. ************ Never claimed to be offended. Simply noted that when the joke became a framework upon which to hang the names of additional African Americans, it became racist. I even used the inclusive "we" in my remarks. However, I failed to consider the outraged overreaction likely to occur when one strikes an exposed nerve. Y'all do protest too much. |

Spin?
"Spin" is your label for reality when it doesn't suit your agenda. Why would you lie so? Here, again, are the remarks that generated the outraged overreaction from the raw nerves clan: FI-FO-FI FO-FI-FI-FO I always thought that was Jesse Jackson's ******************** This racist thread brought to you by wreck.boats :-( Isn't this where we trot out the Chinese laundry jokes, or the tired old saw about telling a running back that the football is really a watermelon? Will we ever get past dealing in racial stereotypes, or finding then "amusing"? I encountered another personality who likes to use the line "Get a sense of humor" Submitted here for your enjoyment only- and of course it is exempt from criticism (under your own standards) because it's a "joke". http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/war.../evilclown.htm |

My criticism would still be warranted, but my comment less than accurate if you are black. We have no information upon which to base an assumption that you are white, and it isn't important either way." "So, is it supposed to be funny because we're laughing at the ethnic speech, or because we're laughing at a physical disability?" "And if Mike Tyson were white, it wouldn't *be* a racist joke." "Why not tell one where ol' Rasmus gets an ass full of buckshot stealin' wattamelon? You could defend that by pointing out you noticed a person of color buying watermelon down at the market just the other day." Many more in this thread but those show you found the joke to be racist....which makes *you* the racist. Now spin away Chuck. |

Remind me again of your on topic boating contributions here SoFarrell. In the last day or so I added to a discusion about trailers and I made a comment about fishing earlier today. I have a little flatbottom boat and motor I use for fishin and such and have no real interest in fancy boats. All I want from my boat is the motor to start and run when I have time off from work so I can fish and putt around down here. Every so often there is a boat discussion or a fishing discussion here I drop in on and sometimes add something. I've just not seen a discussion group like this one where there is so much animosity aimed at so many people and it has been sorta funny to watch all the posts this week about krase and he isn't even been posting this week. Talk about a bunch of obsesssed guys, jesus. If I recall you no longer have a boat, right, and most of your posts here have nothing to do with anysort of boating.
