French navy in town

The nuclear carrier FS Charles de Gaulle, with a submarine, tanker and
two destroyers arrived for a five day visit yesterday. They had been
exercising off the coast with Canadian and American navies.
The word is...it's good luck to touch the red pom poms on their
hats...but I'd leave it to the JimH's of the group to do that.

Back to your old ways again, Don?

Don't you mean practicing surrendering to the Canadian and American
navies?

Tom

The pom-poms Hertvik likes to play with are between the sailors' belly
buttons and knees.

Did any of you two spend any time in the military? Just curious.

Ted

A lot of us spent time in the military. We don't brag about it much. Harry is
anti-military, but since you're relatively new and liberal, he'll suck up to you
for a while. You'd be better off putting down the military every chance you get
if you want to stay in his good graces.

Their aviators already tried that:

We didn't like their aircraft, or their uniforms.

I'm anti-military *establishment." That's NOT the same as being
anti-military. I don't trust "the Pentagon."

Then why do you take swipes at soldiers, airmen, and sailors every time you get
a chance.

Who are you trying to con, Harry?

And you ..to yours! Why so quick to jump when anyone dares bring up
your buddy? Are you going to get your 'Green Beret' friend to get me
back in line?
