Engine size differences

I'm about to order a Chapparal 190 I/O.

I can get either the 3.0 Volvo or the 4.3.
Can someone tell me the difference in speed between the two.

I understand that most recommendations will be to the larger engine, but
cost is a consideration at $2000 higher for the 4.3.

Before I make a decision, can I get some factual differences between the
two?

Thanks a lot in advance.

1. The Volvo designation is misleading, that's the drive.
They are both GM engines. Both are very good.

2. Just buy the 4.3, you'll wish you did when all the freeloaders pile into
yer new boat and want to ski.

I have the 3.0 on an 18' (Sea Ray 176), and it's enough power for me and
three other good sized folks and 50 lbs. of gear.... anything more, and you
can feel it work a little harder to stay at a good cruise speed...me and one
other friend with 1/2 tank of gas topped it out at about 43mph. There's
always the folks who will say you can never have enough power, and better
resale value, etc... but I think a good thing to ask yourself is do you
/need/ the extra power?
For me 40mph is fast enough where I am, which is a landlocked riverway.

A 19' Chap with a 2 liter V6 (it is a V6, right...not a 4) will be
woefully underpowered.

The 4.3 liter engine would well worth the extra money.
The 3.0 liter may seem like it has enough power for now,
but once you get used to the boat, you will be wanting
more horsepower.

Whoops...my bad...a typo. I meant 3 liter. Too small for a 19' Chap.
USN engineer? You drive a train?

It all depends if you plan to water-ski behind the boat. Do you prefer to
be dragged under the water for the first minute or above? ;)

3.0...Been there done that, don't do it.

Harry:
- It's 3 litres, not 2
- It's 4 cyl, not 6
- It's adequate, not "woefully underpowered"

Good thing you got your signature right.
