Default redoing upholstery

Mine have bolts in the cushion board that go into the boats fiberglass. Then
inside the fiberglass area there is a piece of wood for a washer and nut
holding it on.

I am going to make some new cushions for the front of my open bow

runabout.
I got rot resistant thread and marine fabric and stainless steel staples.
What I'm curious about is how the back rest ones are usually attached to

the
boat? Velcro? snaps? Hooks?

Any one have any ideas. Years ago I screwed them in and made button snaps
to cover the screw head. Those rusted and the fabric tore where the
screw/buttons pulled down.

Thanks,
MikeG
