New small skiff
 

Hello All,

I was just over at a freinds tonight looking at his new boat. He bought a
new 14' J Series Carolina Skiff with a 25hp Yamaha 4 stroke and E-Z Loader
trailer.

He bought the manual start 25hp and I was very curious about how it would be
to pull start. It was very easy for me and even my little 65#, 8 year old
grandson was able to pull start it. That is great to know.

We will be out in it next week in the lower American River (mostly very
lakey) in Sacramento, CA, looking for salmon, steelhead, stripers and shad.

I have had a Carolina skiff for 3 years, a J12 with a 15 hp 4 stroke yamy.

It has sank twice. Fliped over once.

You can have it cheap!

These things are basically just a fiberglass jon boat. You sure have no
business in rough water with one.
My buddy broached/capsized one in Pine Island sound. (21 foot)
It was at night and a "too close to God" experience for them.

Harry thinks they are varitable bluewater passagemakers if you believe
his opinions. But then, he calls boat fenders "bumpers".

The St. Johns County police use a modified Carolina Skiff as a surf
rescue boat, rather successfully, too, from what I saw.

As I've said, Krause thinks these boats are for big water. He remains
clueless.
