New small skiff

Hello All,

I was just over at a freinds tonight looking at his new boat. He bought a
new 14' J Series Carolina Skiff with a 25hp Yamaha 4 stroke and E-Z Loader
trailer.

He bought the manual start 25hp and I was very curious about how it would be
to pull start. It was very easy for me and even my little 65#, 8 year old
grandson was able to pull start it. That is great to know.

We will be out in it next week in the lower American River (mostly very
lakey) in Sacramento, CA, looking for salmon, steelhead, stripers and shad.

I have had a Carolina skiff for 3 years, a J12 with a 15 hp 4 stroke yamy.

It has sank twice. Fliped over once.

You can have it cheap!

These things are basically just a fiberglass jon boat. You sure have no
business in rough water with one.
My buddy broached/capsized one in Pine Island sound. (21 foot)
It was at night and a "too close to God" experience for them.

Harry thinks they are varitable bluewater passagemakers if you believe
his opinions. But then, he calls boat fenders "bumpers".

The St. Johns County police use a modified Carolina Skiff as a surf
rescue boat, rather successfully, too, from what I saw.

As I've said, Krause thinks these boats are for big water. He remains
clueless.

And your last encounter with big water was when and where? Oh, now I
understand, you thought the conversation was about BILGE water. Bilge
Water, KS no doubt.

Back in your hole please.

No, you still fail to comprehend. The discussion is about the sea
worthiness of Carolina Stiffs. If you enjoy wet pounding rides, try one
out.

Snippy...still waiting for an answer.
Are you...or are you not a boater at this time.
We've heard that you retired to the comfy Lazy-boy recliner.
Pls confirm or deny.

I got a ride once on a CS24 and it was fine in a light chop on the
Gulf of Mexico. It's really not designed for more than that (nor any
other flat bottom, open boat).

Skippy says:

He's close Skippy, Bumpers are that part you bounce off of when you're docking
a Bilgeliner. Fenders are what you try desparately to put between the dock
bumper and your boat before you crash the Bilgeliner..
With all your boating experience you probably run into that problem alot.

In reality, I'd bet 95% of the boating enthusiasts here wouldn't know the
difference between a bumper and a fender, nor would they care. It would take
someone like you to make an issue of it.
