He's close Skippy, Bumpers are that part you bounce off of when you're docking
a Bilgeliner. Fenders are what you try desparately to put between the dock
bumper and your boat before you crash the Bilgeliner..
With all your boating experience you probably run into that problem alot.

In reality, I'd bet 95% of the boating enthusiasts here wouldn't know the
difference between a bumper and a fender, nor would they care. It would take
someone like you to make an issue of it.
