Default An incredibly generous gift; thanks Galen!

Over the past month, there have been a couple of threads about
collapsable kayaks and canoes. I mentioned that I was interested in a
boat that I could take with me to Hong Kong, and briefly discussed a
folding canoe with someone.

Well, Galen Hekhuis read that thread, emailed me a few weeks back, and
mentioned that he had a Folbot Aleut (a 12-foot collapsable seakayak)
that he had barely ever used and that was just sitting in his garage.
He felt that I might get more use out of it than he has been able to,
as well as take it to more remote places, so Galen gifted it to me!

It arrived at my friend's house the other day, and he has taken it off
to my storage area from which I am outfitting my trip to HK in the
fall. I've looked at this model online, and it looks like a wonderful
boat, exactly the kind of thing for an aging, out of shape canoeist
like me. Its beamy and stable, with a wide cockpit, legroom, and not
too heavy. I think I could even flyfish the reserviors in HK from it.

I am deeply and sincerely appreciative to Galen for this gift. Really;
this was an incredibly kind and thoughtful thing to do, considering
that we have never met IRL, only having communicated here on rbp over
the past 6-7 years.

Thanks, Galen. That was a phenominally kind gesture, and I'll be
proudly paddling the 'Galen' in Tai Tam bay in Hong Kong this coming
August! Look for links to pictures! :-)

Congratulation, riverman. Now you can see ALL of Hong Kong.
And Kudos to Galen for keeping the spirit of generosity alive.

Sounds like you should paint a couple of eyes on the bow of that boat,
like Galen did with his other boat, in his honour. :-)

Good karma to you, Galen!
