How much non-renewable resources does it take to make a 50' sailboat?

And
to replace the sails.

Sailboats are in a whole different category...at one with nature..quiet

yet
beautiful.
I think the gov't should offer a tax deduction to encourage sailboat

buyers
and discourage power.

I think *your* government should. Our government is happy the way things
are.

Sail boater ought to be charged a service fee for each opening of
a bridge.

Excellent idea.

30,000 pounds of renewable energy products and 10,000 pounds of lead
leaching into the waters. Should ban them. Wooden, dugout canoes that
warrants a tax credit.

"The manatee has made a great recovery in the past 10 years.
Their numbers have grown from an perhaps 3000 in 1980 to an estimated 40,000
state wide.

Is that 40,000 number your misprint or theirs?

Some kind of governor on the throttle that could be activated within a

mile
or so of land might also be worthwhile.
After all, the problem isn't the manatees..but the yahoo cowboys who want

to
roar around wasting precious non-renewable
energy sources.

Really, my boat is made of wood and runs on an 8 horse engine. Most
sailboats are made with more petrolium based products than I will use
boating in a lifetime. Not to mention, many folks who own these larger
sailboats also have 3-4000 sq foot homes, jet around the country in
747's, and run indoor swimming pools, and drive SUV's. Admittedly not
all of them do, but if you sail and fall into three or more of these
catagories, you should lay off the non-renewable resources bull****.

Where do all forms of plastic come from? Oil.

Your rag merchant sales display couldn't have ever come into being without
oil.

I am assuming most of you have not experiences boating with Mantatees. I have
been doing it sucessfully for 25 years.

Imagine, trying to avoid an animal that unless you know the signs, you can NOT
avoid, imagine even if you do know the signs, you may still kill him. Even in
Clear water 6 foot deep.

This is the reality of boating with manatees in this area.

How the hell do you prevent hitting them?

Avoid hitting an annimal that Is not from Florida, does not belong here, is not
endangered, and had taken over your voting, boating, and docking (building )
rights.

Just not right! my opinion Damn it!

Indeed, if you are in Florida and you hit George w. Bush, you will be in
serious trouble.

Scotty, you see, has a doctorate in sociology and statistical research,
and has conducted several surveys before proclaiming that most larger
sailboats are owned by folks with larger houses who also have 747s,
indoor swimming pools and SUVs.

Me, I think he drinks out of the varnish cup.

Wow, I was packing for a move to the USA. If that's the lifestyle of the
average American sailor.....the one's up here would be poor country cousins
by comparison.
