Experts,

I've been looking at getting a large, but inexpensive boat to fulfill
my ambitions of: 1.) Fishing & 2.) Duck hunting.

Been looking at this boat to be exact...link below...

Can you believe they want $3,700.00 for a jon boat all-be-it 20ft and
welded.

Still I could eventually rig this baby with a 115-125hp outboard and
seats and trolling motor and this and that...you get the point. Is
there a better solution to my problem?

Am I overlooking the obvious? I want a boat that I can walk around in
unlike a 14' jon boat. Though I don't want to break the bank or have
to rob one.

Build one from 2 by 3" studs, 1/2" exterior G1S voidless plywood,
tar (or epoxy) and ring nails. Put a 1/4" ply bimini on it and solar
cells. The Minn Kota will take you to the ducks in time for a
breakfast of fresh fish. Maybe you could build it up into a
houseboat eventually, or add steps or foils and a rooster tail chevvy?

I saw a jon boat with a slant 6 on a swivel, and they told me they
could run the ducks to death, catching them on the windscreen. It
had an expanded mesh windscreen they could hang a weather top on,
with clear plastic windshield for rain or camping in, built in
storage and a camper potty.

It looked lovely in brown green camo.

It had a welded bracket for the motormount swivel, with a thrust
bearing under the flywheel. No reverse, I guess. An electric motor
and fan from a Datsun heater and a battery would work for an
electric motor for trolling or reverse. It might even charge the
battery at speed.

Keep it painted, it'd last good. Maybe cheaper to rebuild in 10 years.

I was looking at those at Bass Pro Shops. They are built nicely.
