Nice job. I've been building tall ships from kits for about 18 years,
but never had the nerve to try one from scratch.
Obviously, you've had some training in model making.

Happy boating, Norm

It is powered by an elec motor and is radio controlled. 1/12 scale, 31"
long.
I built it to have something to do while hanging around the marina in the
evening.Ive built gas powered boats from kits as a kid and rarely worked
with fibreglass before. I started with a 2 chunks of blue insulation foam.
One for top and one for the hull.
I shaped them using a few measurements I had taken, and alot of digital pics
of various locations on my boat. Then I made a mold using the foam i had
carved, and plaster of paris. I laid the fibreglass into the plaster molds
and it popped out of the mold with only a few patch repairs to make.
I didnt think it would turn out as it did,, there were a few times I was
ready to toss it out this winter. The windshield is molded in my kitchen
oven using a mold I made. The seats are all vynal and sewen by my wife.
The paint is the same as the real boat as is the canvas top material.
The railings are all made of wire and brazed together(never brazed
before either). This is version 10 of the railing,, I found it very
difficult to get right. The Radar arc is removable to easily access the
radio control box.
I have no idea how she is going to perform on the
water. I DO know that she floats. I tested it out in my hottub if you can
believe that..lol
Still loads of ice on the lakes here, might be a few
weeks yet... I am quite anxious to see how she performs.
Power wont be an issue I have already determined :-)
Ill let you know how it all works out, Hoping to get alot of pictures
of the 2 boats together.
