The three cyl had a thermostat sticking problem. It would stick in an
almost
closed position. When the motor was used in this condition it would cause
enough heat in the top cyl. to burn a nice size hole from the combustion
chamber into the water jacket. Taking the thermostat out before meltdown
never seemed to cause any problems.
