Short Wave Sportfishing March 24th 05 05:20 PM

I would just like to point out...

that last year at this time, in fact right about now (1200 hrs EST) I
was fishing Lake Quinsigamond in Shrewsbury, Mass working a weed line
for pike.

This morning I shoveled six inches of snow out the Ranger and the Lake
is frozen over.

This is Bush's fault - I just know it. Bush, Cheney and Halliburton.

Let not forget the Illumaniti, Tri-Lateral Commission and Black
Jesuits.

And Rockefeller.

Where do you live Tom? We are still getting sprinkles of snow here (no
accumulations) and Lake Erie is pretty well thawed.

That is because you live down south :-) We got over two inches last
night......and the marina has at 4-6 inches of ice. And theey claim they
will be launching boats April 1st.

Went ice fishing at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire on Tuesday. Cut
holes through 2½ feet of ice to fish. It's snowing today, again.

Maybe ice boats will be launched on April 1'st.

Temps in the high 70s here. I'll probably go for a spin in the little
boat after I knock off work about 4:30. My oldest son is visiting
from NYC this week and he's taking windsurfing lessons out at Sanibel
Island this afternoon.

Looks like a late spring on Long Island Sound? Please try to warm it
up by mid-June which is when we hope to arrive. :-)

If I'd waited a year, the Boxter may have gotten the nod. Nice cars. You got any

I know retro is all the rage, but there is something about the 05
Mustang that just takes it one step too far.

Don't get me wrong - it's a nice car and it has a certain panache, but
it just looks wrong - like a cross between a '65 Mustang Fastback and
a '69 Opel.

Then again, what do I know - I own a '70 Corvette - the most beautiful

The boat did not sink and the ride this afternoon was really nice.

We lived in Westchester County for many years but did most of our
boating out of Stamford and points east. Sold the house when we
moved down here but bought the GB49 with the idea of using it as our
summer home up north. Assuming the trip north goes OK, we'll be
hanging out in Long Island Sound, Block Island and the Vineyard this

Good chance we could hook up in the Saybrook/Essex area some time

Ouch. I took the new (to us) Boxster to work today. Top down. 76
degrees
for a high.

My condolences.

Jack

Nice!

Thanks. The writer mentions a lack of power on the base model... I don't
know, I've never driven one. We bought the "S" model, and with its extra
gear and more displacement and HP, it sure seems plenty fast to me! Not
that I'd exceed the posted limit... :-)

I had thought about a Boxter until I saw and drove the new Mustang GT. It

was
love at first sight.

If I'd waited a year, the Boxter may have gotten the nod. Nice cars. You

got any
pics up yet?

I just know you're hoping to see mine, so here you go:

Yep... I'd seen the first pic you posted a while back. Nice car, we
considered it as well. Whatever we got HAD to have a soft top, so I never
got around to driving the Mustang, as they aren't out yet.

I haven't taken a single picture yet. But I will!

There is only so much conspiracy to spread around.

No. No. No. It's ALL a conspiracy.

I know retro is all the rage, but there is something about the 05
Mustang that just takes it one step too far.

Don't get me wrong - it's a nice car and it has a certain panache, but
it just looks wrong - like a cross between a '65 Mustang Fastback and
a '69 Opel.

Then again, what do I know - I own a '70 Corvette - the most beautiful
car on the face of the planet. :)

Later,

Tom

I dunno... Ford hit a solid home-run with this one. The look, performance,
and price are all just right. They'll sell every one they can make.
Quickly.

A 70 vette? Cool! My old muscle car is a '70 Torino GT. At least one of
us has taste. grin

Not necessary. In fact, it is I who should be offering condolences.

After all, you have to feel sad for those who can't purchase real
cars. :)

Later,

Tom

Hey, watch it! I would have bought a "real car", but I couldn't find a '69
Mercury Marauder. ;-)

They were nice. Back in the day, I was fortunate to have two - '70
440 GTX and a '70 Corvette. I sold the GTX a couple of years ago
because I wasn't using it and a collector had been after me for years
to sell it - the offer kept going up and eventually, I just gave in.

My Corvette is all original and only has 16K on it. It's the one car
that I couldn't part with - I sold all my other restorations (a '70
Duster, '54 Crown Vic, '50 International L-110 pickup, and four
International tractors) almost as soon as I finished them. :)

The 'Vette - that's my baby. Bought it when I came back after my
second tour and kept it ever since.

Later,

Tom
