About Scotty
Has anyone else noticed that he is really coming apart at the seems?
He starts out sort of dignified and even prissy, but as his own thoughts are turned inward on him through conflict with basic logic and reason, he comes unravelled rather quickly and starts to lash out in a vulgar and violent fashion. What we seem to have here is an angry ex-cop anxious for the opportunity to kill someone. One day it will be a moment of dubious distinction to be able to say "I corresponded with Scott Weiser before he went postal." |

Unfortunately, the problem is not that he eventually gets unmasked as a troll with nothing meaningful to say, but that he manages to draw so many people into arguing with him every time he feels like trolling, before those people come to that very conclusion for themselves. It seems he is coming apart at the seams :-) He has done so every time someone went after him with arguments. I would not put him in the troll category. I think he mostly believes what he says, which is why he is both fascinating and...well...creepy. I still have several weeks before the ice is out, so no promises :-D |

Scott is a very intelligent and extremely well spoken 'troll' of sorts. Look at his sig. file, that should clue you into who Scott is. Scott thrives on anyone who disagrees with him. He will NOT back down, ever, the only way to win is to cease playing the game. I know this because 1) I've done battle with him in the past and 2) there's a little (OK, a LOT!) of Scott in me too! ;-) John Kuthe... |

Don't you just hate us? Not really, but that might have to do with the fact that I was born on (within an 1/8th of a mile) and lived for 40 years there, yet now I live on the east coast. There's a reason for that. |

Now what about the mosquitoes, black flys, noseeums, etc? What are you trading those for? At least in my neck of the woods we don't get black flys or noseeums and the mosquitoe season is pretty light and only during the warm month. That's an easy trade for hour long 10 mile commutes. We have 4 real seasons. There's also the real estate market. Last fall my mother-n-father in law bought a house about 10 minutes from "downtown" Ithaca. It's a nice two level 3br, 2ba house with a huge two car garage on 25 wooded acres. They paid less than $200K for it. For paddling there's a 40 mile long lake within walking distance (the best route is through one of the gorges which has a couple of 50' water falls). If I wanted to I could launch onto the lake, paddle north to the Seneca river, make my way to the Erie canal and then either go south down the Hudson river to the ocean or north through Lake Champlain to the St Lawrence river and out to the ocean. It's about a 5 hour drive to the ocean otherwise (about what I used to do to go skiing when I lived on the west coast). During the winter, a flight to Florida or other southern states for some warm water winter paddling takes only a few hours and is typically under $300. Otherwise there's always pool sessions, or building a new boat in my basement. Also being on the east coast there are frequently some good airfares to Europe. A couple of months ago I saw a r/t fare to London for just over $200. |
