The homogenizing of Sirius...

I was wondering how long it was going to take Mel Karmazin to
homogenize Sirius once he took over.

About a month.

All my favorite stations are now top/pop 40 - no more cutting edge
music or electronica.

So ends my subscription.

Later,

Tom

I wondered the same, Tom. I'll tell you one thing, a lot of college
sports teams are signing contracts with one or the other, so you kind
of have to pick and choose. It seems most SEC teams have individually
signed with Sirius, and what amazes me, is that the SEC Conference
et.al. signed with XM!

Isn't there a competing service, Tom? If so, it available in your area? I'm
not at all well-versed on these things.

I have a friend who works for Clear Channel, and he said it was just a
matter of time before the cancer reached satellite radio. Actually, I called
it "cancer", and he got all ****ed off because he knew I was referring to
the "scream at the ADHD audience" type of programming and commercials that
are prevalent on the stations his company owns.

XM is just as bad, although they are a little more open about it.

It's not quite that bad, but a channel that I listen to a lot had a
lot of electronic music - ambient sounds and the like.

It's now vocal crap, cross over Euro "rap" and performers like Nora
Jones.

It sucks.

I thought there were bunches of "channels" to choose from. If yes, are they
ALL screwed up now?

All the ones I liked anyway.

Oh well.

You guys spend lots of time in the car?

Not really. I listen on the Web from the Sirius web site. It's part
of the subscription fee.

Only travelling. Locally, I'm lucky enough to have two great jazz stations
and a bunch of college stations. The rest is pure trash.

I listen to NPR, and then to one of three classical stations in the
area, or the new classical voice station on the internet.

That explains a lot.

This is bull. XM's music channels are deep, eclectic, and superior in
every respect to Sirius. Your remarks reeks of not knowing the facts.

Anyone seeking Top40 would be comfortable at Sirius. People seeking
deeper playlists, diversity of entertainment, and better sound quality
to boot would be looking at XM.
