The homogenizing of Sirius...
I was wondering how long it was going to take Mel Karmazin to
homogenize Sirius once he took over. About a month. All my favorite stations are now top/pop 40 - no more cutting edge music or electronica. So ends my subscription. Later, Tom |

I'll tell you one thing, a lot of college sports teams are signing contracts with one or the other, so you kind of have to pick and choose. It seems most SEC teams have individually signed with Sirius, and what amazes me, is that the SEC Conference et.al. signed with XM! |

I'm not at all well-versed on these things. I have a friend who works for Clear Channel, and he said it was just a matter of time before the cancer reached satellite radio. Actually, I called it "cancer", and he got all ****ed off because he knew I was referring to the "scream at the ADHD audience" type of programming and commercials that are prevalent on the stations his company owns. |

It's not quite that bad, but a channel that I listen to a lot had a lot of electronic music - ambient sounds and the like. It's now vocal crap, cross over Euro "rap" and performers like Nora Jones. It sucks. Later, Tom |

If yes, are they ALL screwed up now? |

The rest is pure trash. |

This is bull. XM's music channels are deep, eclectic, and superior in every respect to Sirius. Your remarks reeks of not knowing the facts. Anyone seeking Top40 would be comfortable at Sirius. People seeking deeper playlists, diversity of entertainment, and better sound quality to boot would be looking at XM. |

Of course that doesn't mean that they have longer attention spans. I mean if anybody is going to put me into a comma, it's Terry Gross a creature of "public" radio if there every was one. This is bull. XM's music channels are deep, eclectic, and superior
in every respect to Sirius That is not what Edmunds says: "So who's the winner? First, let us say that even the most discriminating listener will be happy with either XM Radio or Sirius Radio. It is obvious that both companies have put together a crack team of researchers and programmers, and the variety of content offered by both services is truly staggering and impressive. In fact, we could easily call this test a tie, since both XM and Sirius provide excellent content. That being said, we're going to give Sirius the nod. It strikes us that XM Radio takes fewer chances with its content, sticking to the tried and true, while Sirius takes a riskier path. As a result, the Sirius content is a little edgier and more surprising, plus the company has better choices in sports and talk." http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=103686 |
Not to mention that Sirius web streams are free - (((XM))) you
gotta pay an extra $4 a month. But the service costs less to begin with, the streams are much better sound (higher bitrate) and they have XM music instead of Sirius. Also, you can't get the Sirius streams unless you also have a Sirius radio. You can get XM online without a radio subscription. |
