I "caught" one accidentally while cat fishing at the I-90 bridge over the Connecticut River a few years ago - early March. As soon as I saw what I had, I grabbed the needle nose and released it after a minute or two recovery time in a net. Big time fine for one of those beasties. Never knew you could eat them though.
