for China. Now China needs lots of energy to run those industries. Too
late to close the barn door after the horse is out.

I agree. But you have to ask: when was the barn door opened?

Around 1973, when Nixon & Kissinger realized the best way to lure China out
of its droning communist stupor was to entice them to taste capitalism. They
tasted, they liked, and here we are now, with a mess.
