So did I - and I wasn't half bad with a 5 string banjo or fiddle either. However, any idiot can play drums. :) Later, Tom |

I could never get the hang of the mandolin. I could "play", but I couldn't play if that makes any sense to you. Just couldn't get the stroke and fingering down evenly. I'd have periods of competence and periods of total incompetence, but it never sounded "right". Ever seen Bruce Molsky? I have never seen him, but I have the "Fiddlers 4" CD with Doucet, Eggleston and Anger. That's a great CD. I have seen on of his mentors, Tommy Jarrell way long time ago. However, any idiot can play drums. :) That's true, but not just any idiot can play them well. LOL!!! Damn straight. :) Later, Tom |

I got the impression that he's pretty much devoted his life to this music and the result shows. IIRC he mentioned a number of names including Tommy Jarrell. I also thought he was very witty & funny although it wasn't the sort of venue for uproarious laughter. I was only allowed to buy one CD at intermission and picked "Contented Must Be" which we love. "Fiddlers 4" is on my list. DSK |
