![]() " Things to do? Boating doesn't seem big unless you go to San Diego. Lake Pleasant NW of Phoenix is pretty nice for sailing boats, also bass fishing and general boating. The lakes NE of Mesa have some pretty good fishing...Sahuaro, Canyon Lake, Apache, and Roosevelt. Some pretty big catfish come out of Roosevelt. All close enough for a days fishing trip. Very crowded on the weekends, however. The lake(Barkley?) on the Verde River just north of Scottsdale has a good reputation for catfish, also. They've been pretty low the last few years due to the drought but I hear water levels this Winter have come up quite a bit because of the rains. They had to drop the artificial rubber dams holding in Tempe Town Lake to let the Salt River drain off some of the water behind the dams on the first four mentioned lakes. I hear people came in droves to watch water running in the river bed..it hadn't done so in about ten years. Tom. |
