I almost fell down when the yard told me they get $185 per side to
sandblast, epoxy coat, and paint the running gear on a boat.......I must have looked disoriented after leaving the office, because a guy evidently overheard my request and approached me as I was leaving the yard. He said what the yard is proposing is a complete rip-off, as he's been using muratic acid to clean props, shafts and rudders for years. He said it restores them to pristine condition. Evidently, he sprays it on, let's it sit for a while, and rinses it off. He said it's then pretty much ready for epoxy and paint. Anyone tried this before? I don't want to melt my running gear! 8) |
