Patriotism: Rationality's Worst Enemy

The great Eighteenth Century English writer Samuel Johnson once

called
patriotism "the last refuge of a scoundrel," and his words have
withstood the test of time. Scoundrels in Washington and their

snip

continued prosecution of unwinnable wars, stifles rational

discussion
of war-peace issues, and encourages mob-like behavior that

tramples
free speech and individual liberty. It is time for America to

deny
refuge to Washington 's scoundrels.

Thanks!
Great article. Sadly it's beyond the reading comprehension

level
and
too long for the attention span of most Americans.

There's no question that Bush in the White House encourages the

dumbing
down of America.

He doesn't encourage you to be a constant liar, Krause!

John H

Does he encourage you to be a constant childish name calling type of
person?

As a matter of fact, I apologized for my name-calling. Have you ever
considered same?

John H

The apology doesn't mean a damned thing if you keep on doing the same
thing! Now if you were to actually learn from your mistakes, and take
positive steps to fix the problem at hand, someone might think that you
were sincere.

Can you suggest some good, positive steps?

Bingo.

Herring thinks because he is "more subtle" about his name-calling that no
one will notice he is still name calling.

Bad-smelling fish by any name is spelled Herring.
