How about the "drive" on the "sailboat" which instead of the sail has a
slowly rotating verticle tube. Any wind from any direction can be converted to forward propulsion, even straight into the wind if I remember correctly. I have a picture of an old ferryboat with 4 horses in a turnstile, which turns a paddlewheel. It was sort of Rube Goldberg, as there wasn't room for much else. |
Looks like it would rock for slow speed manuevering, but I bet you could get
