The original article that began this discussion is now more than two
years old. You seem to have stayed longer than anyone else!
Thanks to resources now available, I can answer a question I asked
previously:
What was the phase of the moon
and its azimuth and elevation at approximately
2:15 a.m. local time on the night of August 1-2,
1943 in approximate location Blackett Strait
off Vanga Vanga, i.e., the time and place of
the collision between PT-109 and the Japanese
destroyer?
According to some data provided by
http://www.skyviewcafe.com/skyview.php
there was no moonrise that evening. The moon was
at a nearly new-moon state.
