I have been reading some of your latest posts and some of the posts you
had written in the middle. When The ship Amagiri crushed through the PT-109, it was traveling at top speed or close to it. During World War II PT boats were only designed for hit and run attacks. The boats would approach enimy ships, drop a torpedo into the water and run. The date was August 2, 1943 near the Solomon Islands. Kennedy's ship was ordered to patrol(PT Boat= Patrol Torpedo Boat) the area and call in any sightings of enimy ships. At 2:00am while Kennedy's boat was creaping along trying to make the least ammount of nois themselves, The Amagiri traveling at about 40 knots cut clean through the 109. During this collision Kennedy was thrown onto his already bad back. (He was even denied entry into the navy due to his back problems, but his dad pulled a few strings and got him in anyway. After this collision he was even forced to leave the Navy.) Even with his hurting back though, Kennedy dragged one of his fellow shipmates, that had a wounded leg, three miles to the island called "Potato Pie Island" Using a rope that he held in his teath. This does not sound like a man that would be slacking off on his dueties to me. He was later awarded a purple heart and the Navy and Marine Corps Medal. Now, I have notice that you have be arguing for quite some time now. I do not expect my message to make you finnaly believe your wrong, due to your stubborness, but I would like to say one thing: You are sitting at home arguing about how Kennedy was most likely the one who screwed up by not paying attention and just day dreaming that night (along with the other 11 crew members) when really you are worse than him because you, rather than helping the world, would rather sit at home critisizing a war hero. As much as I would love to stay here and argue pointlessly to a brick wall, I have better, more constructive things to do with my life. |
