I don't have the service manual with me, right now, so I can't check.... The reason that I asked is that my local dealer suggested changing the anodes on my DF250 every 200 hours. He says there are anodes up in the head that need to be changed (never heard of this???), and it's pretty extensive work to get 'em off. He's telling me that the 2 hour service (change oil, water pump impeller, thermostat, anodes, bonding wires, lower gear oil, etc) is $240 in parts alone...and another 4 hours labor. I also have to pay transport cost because I don't have a trailer. The bill will be over $600! I'm at my 100 hour, and I've been quoted $148 to change the engine and lower gear oil. I'm probably going to do it myself since it'll take about 45 minutes. Have you ever heard of replacing anodes in the head? They must be part of the cooling system, but the service manual just calls for an "inspection" of the anodes at 200 hours...and replacement if they more than 2/3 gone. I store my boat on a lift and flush the engine every time. I doubt anodes can go that quickly. |
