It's a chilly 58F right now. ;-) LOL, and I'll bet the natives are all bundled up. I spent a winter down there. It was always a funny sight. The natives bundled in their down winter coats, while the Michigan tourists headed to the beach in their tee-shirts. Do you believe there were nincompoops windsurfing, using skimboards, and lying around on the beach today? The sun was out, and there was not a cloud in the sky. But the air temp was in the high 50's, and the wind was blowing onshore at 20+ knots. I was bundled up in a waterproof jacket with hood, and two layers underneath. When we were anchored up along the leeward side of a mangrove wall, it got warm enough out to strip down to a tee-shirt...but when I tried fishing the pass with that strong onshore wind blowing at me, it was time to bundle up again. I don't know how I survived 28 years up North. |
"Wayne.B" wrote in message Dump some snow there and she might change her tune. Let us know how it works out :-) This is our 3rd substantial snowstorm in a week. It's been snowing all day, and still snowing/drifting as we speak. I'll get up tomorrow and put it through it's paces. For last two storms it worked quite well. It will bog down some on the first cut but as I make subsequent cuts (half cuts) it works just fine. The auger is plastic so I don't try to chew hard frozen stuff pushed in by the city plow. |

I'm libel for a fine if I don't clear my sidewalk within 12 hours of the storm ending. I have to do my 'walkway' from the front door to the sidewalk, or the mailman won't deliver and we do have homecare people come twice a week to bath my mother. |

The Tampa area (160 miles north of me) is issuing Gale warnings, with seas 9-13 feet, and temps 27-32F. Sounds like a good day for the semi-annueal SW Florida Dental Assn Fishing Tournament. I went out today anyhow. Fished the back waters, and it wasn't too bad if I fished the leeward side of the mangroves. My 5 year old and I caught countless mangrove snappers and sheepshead on live and cut shrimp. All were teeny tiny, but it sure beats the snow. Here's a weird tip. When I lived in NE Florida and fished a lot with live shrimp, I tossed the ones that didn't survive in the livewell in a glass jar filled with diet pepsi and stuck it overnight in the fridge. For reasons totally unknown to me, the next day, those pepsi-soaked shrimp were gangbusters as dead bait the next day. Coke did not work. How the heck did you ever think of even trying that? |

I don't know what it is, the aroma, the taste, the artificial sweetener soak. Do they stay firm and tough enough to stay on the hook? Day old dead shrimp usually turn to mush. |
Here we go,,,
I had to laugh one day, partner of mine came to visit me here in the west, and near my home is an old folks home, it took em a bit to understand the philosophy of stuffing your parents into some place, letting someone else clean them, care for them, visit them once a year,,,, I guess that is just one of the differences between your culture krause and mine,,,, and you german racists laugh at my culture all the time,,,lol,,, I bet your german mother there krause wishes she had a child who didn't promise to associate with them ever,,,, or had to have homecare or strangers bath them,,, real class act you are there krause,,,, putting your bait shrimp in pepsi,,, but not coke,,, now krause you are so dam full of **** I bet your eyes are brown,,, Notice the ,,,, lord giveth lord takith away excuse//??? krause is that another escape for you?/ why not tell the truth,, why not either just say you are too old, toothless and feeble to shovel or your own children, who promised never to associate with you again (as you said) will not come over to shovel it for you ,,,, krause,,, you live a sad life,,, don't ever get rid of that computer,, you will be dead in a week,, "Harry Krause" wrote in message ... That was the case when I lived in Virginia, but we're on a little private road now, and our rural carrier puts the mail into multi-family box unit down at the edge of the public road. |

Ahhh...as a dentist, I thought you would know the secret to keeping dead shrimp on the hook...braces elastics! The only thing that I use dead shrimp for is tipping my sabiki rig. If I know that I'm using shrimp tipped jigs, I still buy fresh shrimp, and cut them up. I don't have much luck with shrimp that I have been dead for more than an hour or so. Of course, I never tried the Diet Pepsi trick. |

One of my coworkers, from Framingham, Mass., who has Huskies, told me his dogs jumped out the back door and centered out on the snow--their feet did not reach the ground. |
