"Don White" wrote in message ... We have a weather warning for a blizzard tonight. Expect between 20 and 45 cm of snow blown around by winds from 70-90 kph. This should be a good test for my new Toro 1800 electric snowthrower. I'll report on how it performs. As promised. Woke up this am to about 10" on the ground with some drifting. Carried the Toro 1800 up from the basement and out the front door to avoid the hike from basement door way around back. I believe this test was a good one as it pushed the thrower to it's max. When pushed into the snow to make the 1st cut the machine laboured. I had to take it slow and let it work at it's own speed. This was equivalent to a slow shuffle. I made one cut extend to include the neighbour next to me. One the way back, for the second cut, I only took about 9" rather than the full 18". What a difference! Moved along at a nice slow walk and the machine seemed to keep it's speed up. Next, I tackled the bank thrown up in our driveway by the city plow. I had to lift the thrower and use it as a shovel/thrower combo. Once I made my first cut, the next was much easier using the half capacity mode again. My verdict...much better than shoveling and marginally better than the snow scoop. The big advantage will be when the banks are so high it's difficult to place the snow. Then the blower should shine for each additional snowfall. Complaint...the 100 ft 12ga cord does get in the way at times and the adjustment for the chute exhaust height is a bit loose. I'll tighten up so it stays at the setting I choose. |

I went there three years ago with my boat and I had a great time. I have also been at the Halifax harbour, but many years ago and not with my boat. I liked it there also. Now, if you guys want to see a really good harbour, come to Bayfield on Lake Huron. In my opinion it is one of the most scenic on the Great Lakes. Jim Carter "The Boat" Bayfield |

Jim Carter "The Boat" Bayfield Hi Jim. I doubt if Don has ever been there either. He tends to parrot Mr. Krause, which is a shame. But I suppose he has to follow someone. Perhaps he'll get over it. I would much rather be in Cleveland than northeast Washington DC, the area that Mr. Krause seems so proud of. John H On the 'PocoLoco' out of Deale, MD, on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay! "JohnH" wrote in message ... Have you ever been to Cleveland, Don? John H I just recently stated that I have not been to Cleveland and was basing my observations on one particular representative from that area. |
By the way...have you asked your 'buddy' if he's ever been to my port? |

Hi Don: You are one lucky guy! The Parry Sound District, on Georgian Bay, is in the center of one of the best Cruising Grounds on the Great Lakes. The 30,000 Islands area is quite spectacular. Crystal clear water. Fabulous fishing and a very high concentration of wildlife. I have toured this area extensively, having been a canoe tour guide for many years. My wife and I cruised here, in our Monticello, since 1989 until she passed away two years ago. We loved this place. Whether you go North or South from Parry Sound or just stay in the Sound, you will find incredible boating. The only area that may be better is the area North of Manitoulin. The world famous "North Channel". This is paradise! With my boat, I could go from Bayfield, on lower Lake Huron, to Parry Sound in one Day of fast boating. My boat cruises at 30 knots. The distance from Bayfield to Parry Sound is approx. 190 NM If you need any specific information on Parry Sound, just send an e-mail to me. Jim Carter "The Boat" Bayfield. |
