Chuck, wasn't their nuclear program in development during the Clinton
years? When you say, "...cut off the oil supply..." are you referring
to oil we were giving them or did we in fact place an embargo on North

Sure, and from their point of view we owe them gazillions of dollars in aid money
that was promised.

In 2001, we began accusing N. Korea of having a clandestine Nuclear Weapons
program. Not unlike the WMD accusations leveled against Iraq.

IIRC that accusation was made earlier, too.

During the month of November, 2002, (just as winter was geting underway in
North Korea) Bush very publicly and with great fanfare (he made a speech about
it)
encouraged/permitted/influenced an organization acronymed as KEDO (it manages
energy resources for the Korean peninsula) to immediately cut off the shipment
of fuel oil into North Korea. Guess what? With an entire nation of freezing
people, the Koreans hopped back on the nuclear program big time. Of course,
Bush was then able to say, "See? We told you all along they were running
nuclear reactors that could be capable of enriching unranium! We've been proven
right!" Politics, as usual.

Yes, they have said they have already enriched enough plutonium to make two or three
bombs, and hinted that they may be about to test a warhead.

From the KEDO web site, " KEDO was created in 1995 to advance the
implementation of the Agreed Framework between the United States and
the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), under which the DPRK
agreed to freeze and ultimately dismantle its existing nuclear
program."

It seems as though North Korea was the one who reneged.

I would agree that it was the PRK who has done the dirtier of the dirty dealing
here, and not for the first time either. While IMHO Gould0738's imputation against
Bush is fairly accurate, we've been 'round and 'round with them many times including
a few cycles on the nuclear weapons issue.

However it is *definitely* and *positively* Clinton's fault! If you're not careful
here, Nobby and Wallie and Dave might throw you out of the club!

If you guys remember, Jimmy Carter brokered a deal for Clinton that gave
the N. Koreans 1-2 BIllion dollars to NOT develop a nuke.

Now we have to deal with the result of these two traitors.

Two ex-presidents are dismissed as "traitors"? !

Chuck, when will you learn? You KNOW that if you aren't a
goose-stepping, I'm-for-Bush-at-all-costs republican, you are a
traitor! You know that if you want to protect the environment that you
fish in, boat in, etc, that you are a traitor. You know that if you
don't pamper the rich with tax cuts you are a traitor. You know that
if you don't love a good war, for nothing more than oil and political
gain, you are a traitor. You know this all, don't you?

Having spent a glorious year working in the Combined (US and Republic
of Korea) Forces Command analyzing the North Korean armed forces, I
would say that any president who trusted anything said by the North
Koreans was at fault.

Chuck, you have a good head on your shoulders. Ask this guy, nicely,
to hush. He is definitely not supporting your positions.

Nor is he required/expected to.

Get past the misconception that everybody left of GWB thinks exactly alike.

You are, of course, correct. I feel lighter already.
