I recently purchased an ACR Globalfix EPIRB for my boat. I registered it
and received my COSPAS-SARSAT decal in the mail. It came with instructions that say "You should affix the decal to the beacon in such a way that it is visible when the beacon is properly mounted." My EPIRB is a category I beacon that is mounted in a "clamshell" bracket with a hydrostatic release so that it will automatically deploy and activate if the boat sinks before I can reach the EPIRB to deploy and activate it manually. The problem is that when it is properly mounted, the beacon itself is not visible at all. It is inside of the mounting bracket. So, do I put the decal on the beacon, or the mounting bracket? If I put it on the mounting bracket, it will be visible, but does not exactly comply with the instructions I received. Also, if I wanted to take the beacon on a friends boat or something, I would have to remove it from the bracket and then it would have no decal on it. What am I supposed to do? Thanks! Gary |
