jps,
If you read my post you would find that you are agreeing with me, not disagreeing with me. I too find all of the talk radio hosts to be buffoons who are not entertaining. My complaint with them, is they like to talk about being balanced and unbiased, but they love to control and cut off anyone who disagrees with them. My point was that Gould thought all conservatives listen to and agree with the "talking heads on TV and Radio. When he made that statement he was guilty of doing the exact same thing he was accusing conservatives of doing. You are correct that there are some people who believe every word uttered by their favorite talking head, it does not mean that all or even most conservatives do. Ignorant people on both sides of the political fence like to find someone else to do their thinking and they repeat there favorite buzz words and phrases. You will find both the conservative and the liberals who are guilty of this. I notice that in this NG there are favorite buzz words "borg", "Nazis", etc used to demonize the enemy. Gould,
In reference to my black and white comment, no one is saying that all conservatives are smart and all democrats are dumb. It is also important to realize that a vast majority of conservatives do not listen to the talking heads. It is also important to realize that many of the listeners to Rush Limbaugh et all are liberals and moderates. The "talking heads" are in the business of generating an audience and pushing hot buttons. It does not matter if you agree or disagree as long as you listen. "Gould 0738" wrote in message ... Do you really see the world in as the black and white you conveyed in this
message? Your right wing radio stations go out of their way to polarize every issue. "You're either with us, or against us. You either worship the ground Bush walks on, or you're a friggin' socialist traitor. You either express enthusiastic support for the war in Iraq, or you wish for our servicemen and women to be killed. You either support tax cuts and acclerated deficit spending or you hope the economy fails.....etc" I see the liberal vs. conservative split in the US as an extremely polarized issue, and am well aware of the side that has done the most to encourage the hate and distrust. It's a multi-billion dollar a day industry catering to the largest audience of listeners to be found anyplace. I think there's plenty of room in the world for dissenting opinions. They should be encouraged. So, yes.....whatever the hate radio jockeys and their devoted disciples represent (black or white) I would hope to be about as opposite on the spectrum as can be. |

Of course, the fact that one of the commercials plainly said
"sponsored by moveon.org" at the end of the ad seems to have slipped by your blinders. I love it when you guys forget the facts. The *fact* is that the ads didn't run in the media.. They were two ads out of a much larger group of ads that were submitted to moveon.org as proposals to consider for the upcomiong campaign. It's no different than some redneck getting on a talk show and saying equally ridiculous and hateful things about moderates or liberals. Are your radio hosts liable for every opinion that their callers express on the air? |

Mr. Gould, You are guilty of the exact same thing you are accusing the
right of doing. You assume anyone who does not agree with you of being a right wing borg, a Nazi and they are the reason for the downfall of America. Not at all. There's no reason that everyone needs to agree with me, and it is better if many do not. However, "right wing borgs" do indeed exist. They are not making a positive contribution to social progress, in my stated opinion. I am very careful not to use the word "NAZI" unless a person has previously described him or herself as such. "Fascism", on the other hand, is becoming fairly common. Since that might be considered a trigger word, let's use this definition from my handy, desk-top dictionary. fascism (n) 1. a right-wing system of government characterized by extreme nationalistic beliefs. 2. an attitude which is extremely intolerant or right-wing You only meet a handful of actual Nazis these days. There are huge numbers of newly minted fascists. My accusations were leveled directly at the "hate radio jockeys and their devoted disciples". If you believe that phrase includes "anyone who does not agree with you" the problem is clearly in your perception, not mine. (Or you assume that everyone who does not agree with me is listening to hate radio). |

Given the regard Bush and his criminal handlers have for the niceties of law and the Constitution you just might get your wish. I can foresee the Bush mob reacting to dropping poll numbers by declaring martial law and "postponing" elections due to a mysterious fire in the Reichstag. Rick Bears repeating: An editorial from the Wisconsin State Journal January 8, 2004 The United States Department of Labor announced this week that, over the course of last year, American businesses cut 1,236,426 jobs in 2003, exposing the lie of President Bush's so-called economic "recovery." Far from easing up, the cuts increased as 2003 went on - the final quarter of the year saw 364,346 job cut announcements, making it the worst quarter for such announcements in 2003. "(It) is difficult to get too excited about a year in which more than 1.2 million people fell victim to downsizing," says employment analyst John Challenger. We agree. Indeed, if the Bush "recovery" heats up much more, we wonder whether anyone will have a job. Published: 6:22 AM 1/08/04 ---------------------------- The crappy economy and the continuing death toll in Iraq and Afghanistan in Bush's personal war will have an impact. Most Americans view the health of the economy in terms of jobs and job security. -- Email sent to is never read. |

Lie (it is really not spin when it comes from someone so intellegent as you) if you want, but they put it out, sponsored it, approved it, a Lie? I said the ad did not appear in the media. Please let me know where the item has appeared as an actual campaign tool, and I will retract my statement. If you have no knowlegde of the item appearing in the press, you have no business calling me a liar. AFAIK, the only place the ad appeared was on the moveon.org website, among a group of other ads submitted for consideration. Heheheh. You ain't seen nuthin' yet...the excoriation of George W. Bush, live and in color on all channels... I hope so. That's the surest way to push the "undecideds" either (a) to bush, or (b) to stay home and not vote. Doubtful...the ads I got to preview today in storyboard form show the similarities between a number of Bush's actions and actions of certain fascist states of recent memory in efforts to restrict the freedom of citizens. Good. The moveon.org Hitler/Bush ad created a helluva backlash. People *like* Bush. Attacking him as a person is a sure way to alienate the 70% of the people that "like him as a person". They're fundraising commercials. There are certain language similarities, even, in some of the Bush Administration's actions to limit freedoms with the language used against the citizens of Argentina, Chile, Spain, and former Soviet bloc states. Most "undecideds" couldn't even name three of the former Soviet bloc states. You might think that "undecided" means that someone is thoughtfully considering all of the candidates...but, in reality, "undecided" can be translated to mean "I have no idea because I don't follow politics and the issues". Your love of fascism...in full bloom, as it were, and I don't mean Leopold. |

I'm sorry, but the fascist ruminations of a 30-year-old dentist who went from mommy's apron strings to college to dental school to a life of ease in South Florida are meaningless. Right now, I could point out that as of November, there was already a net gain of 589,000 jobs in 2003...but it will be more fun to post an even higher number tomorrow. |
