Lloyd How far is the sunshine coast from Victoria? Thinking of a camping / fishing trip to Vancouver Island this coming summer. Cambell river and Tovino / Uculet areas. Basically, the Sunshine Coast is the other side of Georgia Strait from Nanaimo. Victoria is farther south. You might want to consider one of BC Ferries' "Circle Tours" - you start on the Mainland, go to Victoria, north up the Island, then across to the Sunshine Coast and back south. http://www.travel-british-columbia.c.../sunshine.html http://www.bcferries.com/News/circlepac.html Strathcona park is nice toward the north, Campbell River area. Or if you're adventurous, Cape Scott Park at the northern tip ( ;) ) But be sure to check out "WCVI" (West Coast Vancouver Island)! Lloyd Thanks. I was thinking the Sunshine Coast was on the mainland. Have not been to Cambell River since the early 1970's. |

The Sunshine Coast *is* on the mainland. :-) Rather than try to run all the way over there from Victoria, you can launch your boat from Vancouver, Gibsons, Garden Bay, or somewhere else on the East Side of Georgia Strait. Boating out of Victoria, proper, may offer you fewer interesting small boat options than launching at Sidney. Maybe take the ferry boat over to the mainland from the Northern part of the island. Then check out the Sunshine Coast on the way back down. Bill |

We've got about 9000 homeless in the area, and about half of them are women and small children. That, in a "red" state? You guys should practice what you preach. Funny you mention the red state vs. blue state when talking about the homeless. Maryland is a blue state and I would assume that Harry is talking about it because he lives there. Washington D.C. is a blue state if you will and they have a very large homeless problem. Virginia is a red state and they don't seem to have the homeless problem that Maryland or D.C. have. Has a lot to do with the red state right-wing churches taking care of their own... While the godless libs in the blue states toss 'em out and want everyone else to take car of them. Toss them out of where? Most liberals don't attend church. Bush won by almost a 3 to 1 margin among those who regularly attend religious services. If liberals went to church more often, and actually put some money in the collection basket, then more money would go to the homeless. |
