Conservatives Take on Christmas Cause

By ALLEN G. BREED, Associated Press Writer

Emboldened by their Election Day successes, some Christian conservatives
around the country are trying to put more Christ into Christmas this

season.

"Why not simply require stores owned by Jews to put a gold star in their
ads and on their storefronts?" the Rev. Jim Melnyk, associate rector of
St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Raleigh, wrote in a letter to the editor.

I think that someone should tell the Rev. Jim Melnyk, that this was tried
before.
I believe it was done in Germany in the 1930's

I have a very hard time believing that the Rev. Jim Melnyk said
this in the context that you are apparently taking it.

Well, there were some in Germany had a hard time believing it also. The
world later knew it to be correct.
Written on the belt buckle of every Nazi Soldier were the words "Gott mit
uns" which means "God is with us"

These "far right" Christian groups are rather extreme.

Episcopalians are hardly "far right" Christian extremists.

I'm positive that this quote is taken totally out of context.

I could be wrong, but that's the way I'm going to go for now.

Later,
