Default 80 Whales Die on Aussie Island...

Eighty Whales, Dolphins Die on Australian Island

Somebody should check to see if there were naval exercises in the area at the
time. Several scientific theories are now exploring the relationship between
mega-powerful sonar pulses and beached marine mammals.

You don't suppose the whales caught sight of our Ms. Smith, ..........

Why not give it a rest?

Then that theory can't be right- Our submarine is in for repair (a constant
state of affairs) and our other warship was probably in Sydney ;-)

Probably one of George W's subs spreading destruction around the planet.

Hello Don,

Is it possible the marine creatures were all distraught over Bush's
re-election and took matters into their own hands, errrr, fins, errr,
flippers....

Maybe they saw her and thought she was one of the Sirens.

Some suspect sonar may give whales the bends.

Eighty Whales, Dolphins Die on Australian Island

CANBERRA (Reuters) - At least 80 whales and dolphins have died after
beaching themselves on a remote island between the Australian mainland
and the country's island state of Tasmania.

The number of deaths on King Island could be higher as some bodies might
have been washed back out to sea, said Warwick Brennan, a spokesman for
Tasmania's Department of Primary Industry, Water and Environment.

"What we found at first light this morning...was 80 animals strewn along
several hundred meters of beach. All those animals were dead," Brennan
said on Monday.

"There was a mixture of adults and juvenile animals. So it was a very
grim sight," Brennan told Australian radio.

He said there were 55 dead long-finned pilot whales and 25 dead
bottle-nosed dolphins on King Island beach, around 250 km (160 miles)
south of the Victorian state capital Melbourne. A further 17 whales were
swimming around 1 km offshore.

You don't suppose the whales caught sight of our Ms. Smith, queen of the
Hydras? For those unfamiliar, the Hydra, which lived in the swamps near
to the ancient city of Lerna in Argolis, was a terrifying monster with
the body of a serpent and many heads (the number of heads deviates from
five up to one hundred there are many versions but generally nine is
accepted as standard), of which one could never be harmed by any weapon,
and if any of the other heads were severed another would grow in its
place (in some versions two would grow). Also the stench from the
Hydra's breath was enough to kill man or beast (in other versions it was
a deadly venom). When it emerged from the swamp it would attack herds of
cattle and local villagers, devouring them with its numerous heads. It
totally terrorized the vicinity for many years.

You think Ms. Smith is ugly enough to be a WMD?

That's very sad. I hope this was some natural cause and not
sonar or some other man-made thing messing with these whales.

For someone with some obvious intelligence, Harry, you
are often so very very small.

I have to work at it. I find it mildly interesting that you don't seem
to comment about Ms. Smith's negative comments about those she disagrees
with here....

I wish the flippin' liberals would follow their lead...
